Cori Cook and I wanted to come up with some Tips from a Denver florist on why flowers should by a high priority for your wedding!
I have always had this romantic notion that I would live downtown somewhere over a flower shop. When I lived in Chicago I used to walk by a flower shop all the time, and the smells of fresh peonies, roses, lilies, and maybe some lilacs would assault my senses and always leave me smiling. Because I missed my calling as a florist, I have just decided to hang out with my florist friends whenever possible, and live vicariously through them. Cori Cook Floral and all her amazing ladies are such an incredible team! Their designs are spectacular and they so often take my breath away with the beauty they create. They had some Lily-of-the-valley in the studio the day I came by, and it seriously is the most amazing smelling teeny-tiny flower ever, of course Kate Middleton had her bouquet full of it! Cori had me come by to take a few pictures of the design process, I have always wanted to learn how a bouquet is made; it’s a fascinating experience. We wanted come up with some helpful tips on why hiring a great Denver florist is a must! The flowers in your wedding can really change the feel of the entire day. Not to mention there is an adorable shot of Cori and her little one at the end of the post!
Here are Cori’s tips:
Gone are the days of DIY flowers for weddings. And thank goodness the tide is finally turning. Brides across the US are beginning to return to value the art of floral design and understand that the scope of DIY flowers is not worth adding on to their already long wedding to-do list. Still, popular wedding planning tools still suggest allocating only a small portion (8-10%) of a wedding budget towards this reviving art. What do we say? Ditch the percentages and go with a budget that ensures great floral designs in all your major spaces at your wedding. Here are a few of our opinions about why you should make flowers a high priority for your wedding.
1. This one seems like a no-brainer, but I’ll just say it: It is the most important day of your life. Marriage is likely the top most important life decision you will make and your wedding is an invitation to celebrate that most important decision. We believe that you should go all out celebrating. And beautifully designed flowers are a a key part of setting the tone for that very special occasion.2. Great floral designs at your wedding will MAKE your wedding photos. They will be in every image of you and your man, in ceremony shots, bridesmaid images, reception photos…Why hire a bomb photographer and then skimp on flowers? You can have the most gorgeous gown, flawless hair and makeup, but if your flowers don’t match that grandeur, something will seem incomplete about those images. These images will be the lasting memory and the keepsake that recalls this very important day. They don’t seem like such a frivolous expense when they become a part of the imagery of your wedding day to be remembered the rest of your life.
4. PEOPLE love flowers. If you take the plunge and spurge a little on your wedding flowers with a trustworthy florist who knows her/his stuff, trust me, you will be applauded for your decision. We hear from brides all the time that EVERYONE couldn’t stop talking, commenting, ooohing and ahhing over the flowers. We even hear from other vendors how beautiful the flowers are. Photographers love taking extra photos of them. Grandparents love pillaging arrangements at the end of the evening, and your bridesmaids won’t stop squealing when their bouquets arrive. Flowers evoke joy, celebration, and sacredness. And who wouldn’t those qualities infused into their day?
