This Timeless Romantic Cherokee Ranch and Castle Colorado Wedding was all I dreamed it would be! I have this thing for castles and older architecture. I haven’t been to Europe yet, and it’s on my bucket list. Whenever I can find wedding venues in Colorado that mirror days gone by I get very excited to photograph them!
Not every Colorado Wedding has to be outdoors in the Mountains.
We wanted to create a wedding inspired photoshoot that had an identity and charisma of it’s own. It didn’t need it to fit in a modern, or boho, or mountain wedding box. We aimed to create a shoot that meets the many different aspects of a Colorado bride’s individually. She is often adventurous, outdoorsy, loves a good mountain view, but also has a classic and modern side. This shoot took on that classy personality and mixed it with a touch of whimsy. We chose a Colorado venue that has wonderful historic charm – The Cherokee Ranch and Castle – and incredible views. The Castle created that elegant magic, and gave us a swanky backdrop for our bride and groom.
Choosing a green and wine color palette allowed us to stay classic, but also add in touches of whimsy.
Our florals were wonderfully organic and natural, we wanted a huge bouquet that had a mind of it’s own, and really represented the eccentric and fun side of a Colorado wedding. Gretchen with Yonderhouse florals did an incredible job designing our flowers. We chose a color palette of green and cream. We wanted colors that were classic, but still told a story. With 2017 pantones color of the year being greenery for weddings, we thought this was a perfect fit.
The inspiration was based off the classic vibe of the castle with some added modern twists.
Claire Williams with We Tie the Knots created a table-scape that was a perfect a mix of organic floral arrangements, modern napkins, marble name cards, and table tops, mixed all shades of calming greens. We had an incredible invitation suite designed by Sophie with Sweet Zion Paperie . It had the timeless feel of an old-school calligraphy invite, with added modern gold and green paper touches. It was all the perfect combination of romance and contemporary.
Our sweet couple embodied the joy and timelessness of this shoot.
While this was not a real wedding, we had a real married couple model for us. Nate and Kelsey were our adorable couple that allowed us to dress them up and create another wedding memory for them. We wanted that connection, chemistry and charm that comes with a sweet couple in-love. This shoot took them back to their own wedding day, and allowed them to re-live some of those wonderful wedding moments. Liz Wegrzyn with Faces by Liz did an incredible job with Kelsey’s hair and makeup. Our wedding dress was a romantic twist from a & be bridal shop with layers of cream tulle and a structured bodice, again mixing class with whimsy.
Creating a Timeless Romantic Cherokee Ranch and Castle Colorado Wedding, was such a joy.
All weddings should fit the personality of the couple getting married. I firmly believe that the way to create a unique wedding is not simply to just be trendy, but rather to base the day off your two personalties, tastes, and what you like and dislike. We felt that this shoot perfectly embodied just that. This inspiration shoot came from the creative minds of all those involved; it had an identity of it’s own and we love it for that. It was such fun to work with incredible Denver wedding creatives, and see this wedding vision come to life.
We were so excited to see this shoot published on the wonderful wedding blog Bridal Musings. You can see the feature here.
