When the soon-to-be groom writes to you and asks you to photograph a Denver Surprise Proposal at Cheesman Park you do a little happy dance. I adore photographing proposals, and what better backdrop than the regal, classy and historic Denver Cheesman park. Sean and I had been writing and planning this big moment for a couple of weeks, and while we had a few last-minute changes to our plans everything worked out perfectly. Stephanie thought she was just taking a nice stroll in a Denver city park before having a nice dinner with her beau. He had this journal he had been writing in for the last couple of years, he had written about the ups and downs of their relationship, and that through the distance, trials, and amazing moments he would always love her, he would always wait for her, and he couldn’t wait for the day he would call her wife! He brought this journal with him, and had Steph read through it. She just thought this was a sweet gesture, but really it was the prelude to his proposal. The journal was their past written down, and the proposal would signify their future together forever. I had the amazing opportunity to witness this, from a distance far away, being super sneaky hiding in a tree! I was so overjoyed to be the photographer that would capture this historic moment for these two, and freeze the emotions Steph would have as her love dropped down on one knee! The moment was perfect, she was beyond surprised; she definitely said Yes! After the proposal, we strolled through Cheesman park and took a few engagement pictures of these two, the evening light was amazing and the rose gardens were still in bloom with the fall trees creating a perfect backdrop. We took breaks in between to stare at Steph’s new (stunning) ring, and take some deep breaths trying to take in all that had happened, the joy was unsurpassed and the love these two share was truly incredible to capture!
