Oh what a dream this Colorado Devils Thumb Ranch Winter Mountain Wedding was. Colorado is stunning in the winter. White blankets of snow covering everything, the chilly crisp air, the blue mountains glowing with white-capped peeks in the background, its magical. Many couples choose to say I do in the warmer summer months. Once-in-awhile a couple wants to celebrate the beauty of a winter wedding. That’s exactly what Pat and Carly did, they showed off Colorado’s spectacular winter charm for their wedding day!
They chose Devils Thumb Ranch as the backdrop for their big day.
Devils Thumb is perfectly nestled in Tabernash Colorado, and boasts some pretty epic mountain views. While we had a chilly day of about 17 degrees Fahrenheit, that didn’t stop this venue from being incredibly spectacular. Snowy mountain views surrounded us wherever we turned, and Carly had her dream of a snowy December wedding.
The rejoicing surrounding these two was incredible.
Carly was the most stunning, joyful bride. I’m telling you her smile lit up the entire room; her elation and charm were contagious. She kept warm with a lovely fur stole; snuck inside everyone-in-awhile to make sure she didn’t freeze. She was true winter princess bride. The ladies with The Look Salon did an incredible job with Carly and her bridesmaids’ hair and makeup. They all looked amazing!
Pat was the epitome of a doting groom. He was such a trooper in the cold, and the numerous pictures we took. More than that he took every moment he could to make sure Carly and his loved ones knew how much he treasured and loved them. I could hardly contain my emotion, when I watched him see Carly for the first time, or give his mom that special gift, or hug his sister deeply! He gave Carly special notes for her to read throughout their wedding day – letting her know how much love he had for her. He was so incredibly thoughtful, and continued to show everyone he cherished how deeply adored and cared for they all were.
Their day was truly full of romance, elegance, and grace.
Carly described their day as, winter romance and elegance. She said she wanted the feeling to be ethereal and light during the ceremony and more warm, golden, and romantic at the reception. That is exactly what their wedding was. It was full of elegance and romance, and yet so personal in so many ways! These two oozed romance, not in a cheesy lovey-dovey way. Their wedding was planned around each other, and they put each other first in so many big and little ways throughout the wedding, and that’s true romance. It was such a joy to witness. Kellie Barth with Colorado Wedding Company pulled together so many amazing details for these two. She really created the winter wedding of Pat and Carly’s dreams. Plum Sage Flowers created the most stunning winter flower arrangements, they were such pretty combination of classic and exquisite, in particular Carly’s bouquet was to die for.
This Colorado Devils Thumb Ranch Winter Mountain Wedding was a true winter wonderland.
The Ranch has over 6,000 acres and is tucked away at the foot of the Continental Divide in the beautiful Ranch Creek Valley of Grand County. The the entire property was covered in a blanket of white. It was a pure enchanting winter world. At the end of the night, when guests were dancing and making s’mores around the fire it began to snow. It was one of the best ending wedding gifts Carly and Pat could ever receive. They were so hoping it would snow on their actual wedding day, and it did. So we sat around the fire for a last little moment taking in the incredible day and the last wintry gift of snowflakes falling. What a wonderful end to a spectacular wedding.
